Orange County Board of Supervisors Greenlight Improvements to County's Alert OC System
(Santa Ana, CA) – By a unanimous vote, the Orange County Board of Supervisors, under the leadership of Chairman Don Wagner, today approved an important amendment to its contract for Alert OC, the county's emergency alert system. This action bolsters the county's ability to keep residents safe during emergencies.
At its meeting this morning, the Orange County Board of Supervisors took a significant step to ensure continued effective operation of AlertOC during these critical moments. It chose to contract with Everbridge, Inc., through a competitive process, to manage AlertOC's operations. Everbridge’s bid scored the highest due to its reputation for reliability and responsibility. This amendment ensures continuous access to the emergency alert system.
AlertOC is a vital countywide emergency mass notification system that enables Orange County's emergency services to rapidly deliver critical alerts, warnings, and instructions to Orange County residents and businesses in times of crisis. This enhanced tool allows multiple agencies and organizations within Orange County, including cities, the University of California, Irvine, and local water districts, to communicate urgent information directly to our community during emergencies like fires, floods, severe storms, earthquakes, civil disturbances, and more.
"We remain dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of our residents, and this update represents a crucial enhancement to our emergency alert system," said Chairman Wagner. "This will enable us to respond more effectively to emergencies, while providing current and critical information to our community in times of need."
With this action, Orange County is better prepared to protect its residents and businesses during emergencies.
