Board of Supervisors Passes Supervisor Don Wagner’s Resolution to Support CalVet’s Federal Grants Application for Southern California Veterans Cemetery at Gypsum Canyon

(Santa Ana, CA) – At the August 12 Board meeting, the Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed Supervisor Wagner’s resolution to support the California Department of Veterans Affairs’ (CalVet) application to the federal government’s Veterans Cemetery Grants Program for the Southern California Veterans Cemetery at Gypsum Canyon.

“Orange County is home to more than 100,000 veterans, yet we remain the largest county in California without a dedicated veterans cemetery,” said Supervisor Wagner. “The site at Gypsum Canyon is shovel-ready, has widespread community support, and represents a viable and immediate option for delivering on this long overdue promise.”

By approving this resolution, the Board is helping advance the efforts to secure federal grant funding needed to establish the Southern California Veterans Cemetery at Gypsum Canyon in Anaheim Hills.

Since taking office, Supervisor Wagner has made it a priority to make the decades-long promised Orange County Veterans Cemetery a reality. The location in Gypsum Canyon has received the support of all 34 cities in Orange County, the County of Orange, the State of California, and over 100 local, state, and national veterans’ organizations.
