Chairman Don Wagner and Orange County Board of Supervisors Approve Agreement for Sheriff’s Department School Resource Officers

(Santa Ana, CA) – The Orange County Board of Supervisors has unanimously greenlit Chairman Don Wagner's Request for Proposals (RFP) aimed at broadening the recreational offerings at Irvine Lake. The approved RFP seeks to enhance public access to the lake, providing a range of recreational amenities such as fishing, boating, bicycling, and hiking.

"Reopening Irvine Lake to the public has been a top priority since I took office,” said Chairman Wagner. “After its closure for three years due to disagreements among entities, I led negotiations to the lake's reopening in 2019 for public fishing on weekends. This RFP is a crucial step toward restoring the full spectrum of activities our community enjoyed before the closure."

The approved RFP aims to invite proposals that go beyond weekend shoreline fishing, offering a wider range of recreational amenities and activities. This initiative is geared towards restoring Irvine Lake's role as a hub for community recreation, aligning with the public's expectations before the closure.
