Chairman Wagner Issues Statement on Cook’s Corner Shooting in Trabuco Canyon
(Santa Ana, CA) – Chairman Wagner has issued a statement following the tragic mass shooting at Cook’s Corner in Trabuco Canyon.
“Last evening a little after 7 pm at Cook’s Corner, a staple of the Orange County community for over a century, while families and friends enjoyed the weekly spaghetti feed, a gunman senselessly took the lives of three innocent people,” said Chairman Wagner. “The shooter, allegedly a former police officer from Ventura County, apparently targeted his ex-wife and began shooting in the bar, killing three and injuring six, before Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene and bravely ended the carnage. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, and for the families of the deceased.
“I want to thank our dedicated Sheriff’s Deputies, who responded so quickly and efficiently, saving even more lives with their presence. The County of Orange will be active in providing whatever resources the victims and their families need following this evil act. We encourage everyone struggling from this crime, or otherwise in need of compassionate help, to contact OC Navigator’s Mental Health Crisis Support line at (855) 625-4657.”
Chairman Wagner will be joining Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes for a press conference with an update on last night’s shooting this afternoon (Time TBD by OCSD) at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Headquarters in Santa Ana, located at: 550 N. Flower Street, Santa Ana, CA 92703.
